I saddle up my horse, and ride into the city!
So yes I am back in the city after leaving behind the easy life in Dardenne Prairie. Where I trade in dumpster pickups for the dumpster diving. Instead of watching Rachel drive her 4 wheel Barbie car around the cul de sac it’s Leroy working the locust dog park with a shopping cart. Out with the lawn service and in with the street sweepers. PTO conferences, family outings, church picnics, neighborhood socials and irritated and nosey neighbors are all out (for now).
And to sum up what everyone has been saying about my transition they ask “Why the city? Are you crazy?”
Well I may be a little crazy, but that’s besides the point. I say “Why not?”
My name is Scott and this is my blog.
For the next year at least I am looking for change, personality and just activity. You will not find the backgrounds, ethnicities and stories in the county like you do in the city. For most people in the county that is a good fit. They like comfort, safety and routine. It is a great place to raise a family and yes it is safe. Life is good when you wake up, eat, work, eat, talk about your day, sleep and do it all over again. I may be back one day, but not this day. But one thing that does bother me about the county is how much everyone tries to be like each other. Everyone was born different so why try to be the same now?
This blog will be interesting because I will try to log my time in the city. I want to do my time so I can see just how good or bad the city really is. At times my posts may be serious, funny, gloomy, sarcastic, reflective, angry and buzzed. Mostly buzzed. Anything goes.
For all I know I could be begging to have that vinyl sided house, 3 car garage and white fences while parking my truck in the driveway worrying about whether or not I need to cut the grass and fertilize my lawn before or after I head to baseball practice coaching a local baseball team. Been there done that for now.
If anything I will come out of it with better perspective. I will say in 1 month already I have had some interesting moments.
This blog will be about all of those experiences.
